Search Box | 2016
video installation, 5 loop, dimensions variable
Search Box (2016) is an installation that maps video projections onto three wall mounted panels. The video projection is inspired by Google’s instant autocompletion of search terms. It shows text, typed on the three panels, which are referencing the Google search box. The text itself explores common emotions, such as “the fear of” or “love for,” something. The text starts out by listing generic causes for our fears and desires but like so many of our experiences online, disintegrates into an increasingly absurd and dark place.
