Like A Blind Man in A Dark Room | 2009
xerox transfers and graphite powder, 16x20 in.
A mathematician is a blind man in a dark room looking for a black cat which isn't there.
Legend, myth and the supernatural are persistent forces in society despite an ever-growing trust in science; it is the iconography that changed. Are UFO sightings replacing the vision of saints and the Virgin Mary? Though now in the scientific rather than the religious realm the images are strikingly similar; blurry lights, faint traces and the conflict between believers and skeptics.
“Like a Blind Man” examines amateur images of UFO sightings not to prove or disprove them, but rather as a potential document to the necessity of belief.
